As I explained in the NFL draft teams set out to pick up the players that they think will fit their needs. The New York giants general manager, Dave gentlemen is known for making very very unpopular moves in the offseason. And they very rarely pay off. This past offseason as I talk about in passed blogs everybody thought the biggest move he could’ve made was already made when he traded the face of their franchise, Odell Beckham jr.. But this past draft it got worse. Everyone knew with the 6th pick in the draft the giants were going to take a quarterback, we were just all wrong about who’d they take. With Kyler Murry being the only QB taken off the board at the 6th pick, the giants had plenty of options. They could’ve went with Dwayne Haskins, the super accurate pocket passer from Ohio state, Drew lock a QB who was mechanically sound and a good quarterback. Ot even will Grier, a great leader and good QB from west Virginia. But with the 6th overall pick the giants selected Daniel Jones. A QB who wasn’t a top 10 QB in his own conference. Many mock drafts had him out of the top 100 players in the draft and to see him drafted this high is a shock to almost everyone. There is nothing wrong with picking Jones even though people thought there was better QB. The problem is no one was itching to get Daniel Jones. He would’ve been there still in the 3rd round but the giants chose to waste a 6th round pick they could’ve used fixing up their broken defense. There has also been a lot of speculation that he was only picked because his relationship with the Mannings and his crazy similar resemblance to Eli Manning on and off the field. Either way, its going to be some time before we see the giants back on top again.
