Blog 8: How much does Kyler Murry being picked mean?

Arizona Cardinals select Sooners QB Kyler Murry with 1st overall pick.

Kyler Murry is a Texas high school football legend. He then went on to Texas a&m to win the starting spot his freshman year and then transferred and due to NCAA rules was forced to sit out a year, sitting behind and learning from baker mayfield. But why is this so significant? The university if Oklahoma has not only produced 2 back to back heisman trophy winning quarterbacks, those 2 quarterbacks also both went number 1 overall in the NFL draft. Kyler is 5’10 1/8 which if he starts will make him the shortest starting quarterback in the NFL. But size has not been able to stop him from winning ever in the past so why would it now? When it comes to talent I think Kyler has the chance to become a NFL great one day with his combination of athletic ability and he can just all around throw the ball. The biggest question about Kyler wasn’t ability though. It was his love for baseball. He had be chosen 9th overall last year in the MLB draft, making him the only player to be picked not only in the first round of both drafts but in the top 10 of both. He had went on many talk shows struggling to answer questions about wether he was going to play football or baseball. If he did end up choosing football, which he eventually did, he’d have to give back the 4.2 million signing bonus he had gotten from the As the previous year after being drafted. He is currently working on paying it back as he begins his professional football career. The ceiling is very high for Kyler that Is, if there even is one.
