Blog 6: Pro Day

In my last blog I talked about what the combine is and what happens during the process. Even though the combine is vital to a prospects draft stock, there still is one more big chance to workout in front of NFL representatives. Pro day is very similar to the combine including the same drills and the same amount of attention except you do not have to be invited in order to workout at your pro day and instead of being flew out to Indianapolis, your pro day is located at your college or if you attended a smaller school then you may go where ever will let you participate in their pro day. In most pro days, Its not the big stars you’re hearing about. Matter of fact if the athletes that participated in the combine felt content with the numbers they put up, they are more than free to sit out their pro day and just watch and support their teammates. This leaves a lot of light to shine on the athletes who weren’t invited to the combine. This helps gives a more fair shot at everyone getting their chance to showcase their talents in front of teams. But just because your school has a pro day, doesn’t mean the coaches will come. For example, Florida a&m university just came off of an 5-5 year meaning they weren’t too bad but weren’t extremely good either. That being said they were still able to win 50% of their games showing they have at least some talent. That being said, you’d think they’d have maybe a few teams at their pro day. But none showed. Why no teams were interested in the athletes at the university is still a mystery and will probably remain one. But this reminds us how nothing is promised and that even applies to your pro day.
